IOI believes that the lived experience of those who have been through the challenges of eating disorders is an essential part of our work. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of those with a lived experience – be that personally, as a carer,/support person or other family member – are heard throughout the organisation and beyond.
Our team of expert researchers rely on the support of study volunteers for the design and participation in their projects. which focusFocusing on early intervention, treatment innovation, translation of evidence-based treatment and importantly improving treatment access, efficacy and equity for all Australians.
In addition, there are other opportunities and avenues requiring lived experience input and we encourage people to explore the links below to our liveED project and Families and Carers Reference Group.
The livED project offers a digital platform for people to share their experiences of living with and getting treatment for body image, eating or exercise concerns. The project aims to improve and diversify our understanding of eating disorders within the community and to inform health system approaches.
livEDOur reference group brings together a wealth of experience and knowledge. As a member of this group individuals would be contacted as relevant projects come up requiring lived experience input and can decide if this is an opportunity or time commitment that works for them.
