The Barriers to Healthy Living in Everyday Life

CHIEF INVESTIGATOR

Professor Alex Broom

CLOSING DATE

30 Apr 26

We are conducting a research study about how people understand their own health and wellbeing (and the health and wellbeing of others) in the context of social, political, economic, cultural, and environmental factors. We would like to better understand how people think about the relationship between their bodies, health, history, and changes in their lives.

Recruiting Study Details

We are seeking to talk to anyone who believes that their health and wellbeing are impacted by factors such as their financial situation, history, community changes, environment, family obligations, or individual circumstances. We want to speak to a broad range of people about the relationship between their health, body, and wellbeing. You must live in Australia and be over 18 to participate.

What is Involved

If you decide to take part in this study, you will be asked to complete a 30–60-minute interview about your experiences of health, illness, and wellbeing. We will talk about what wellbeing means to you, what you feel is helpful (and unhelpful) for your health, and how doctors, politicians, and people in general could do a better job of supporting health and wellbeing. Our hope is that these perspectives and stories can better inform healthcare practice and policy to consider the complex life factors that contribute to health and wellbeing. Interviews are conducted by an experienced social researcher. Your interview can occur in-person or via Zoom. The interview will be completed at a time and location that suits you.
