The InsideOut Institute has commenced recruitment for a clinical trial investigating psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for individuals with treatment resistant anorexia nervosa who have not responded to standard-evidence based interventions.
Individuals must be aged 21–69, meet criteria for anorexia nervosa, and have a long-standing, treatment-resistant illness. They must be currently under the care of a treating clinical team and have stable medical status. Individuals must have no personal or first- or second-degree family history of bipolar disorder, psychosis, or schizophrenia, and be willing to pause certain medications (e.g. antidepressants or antipsychotics) if required for the study.
The trial is being conducted at Ramsay Clinic Northside in St Leonards. It runs over an 8-week period and includes three psilocybin dosing sessions spaced two weeks apart, with substantial preparatory therapy prior to dosing and integration sessions following each dose.
