FERN Study: Fear, Emotion, and Reward in Anorexia Nervosa

A research study designed to better understand how fear, emotion and reward systems in the brain influence food-related decision making in Anorexia Nervosa. The research aims to identify biological drivers of restrictive eating and inform development of novel treatment targets.

Recruiting Study Details

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and must either have a current diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, or have never had an eating disorder (acting as a control group). All eligibility criteria will be assessed confidentially by the research team.

What is Involved

The FERN Study is based at the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney (Camperdown, NSW) and involves brain imaging and food-related decision-making tasks. The research team will explain all procedures in detail before participation, and informed consent will be obtained from all participants.
