EDGI: International Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative

EDGI: International Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative

EDGI is the world's largest genetic study of Eating Disorders conducted in collaboration with QIMR Berghofer and international researchers. It aims to identify the hundreds of genes contributing to Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and ARFID, to enable more targeted, personalised interventions and earlier detection in high-risk groups.

Recruiting Study Details

Any Australian aged 18 years and over who is currently living with, or has experienced at any point in their lives anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) can participate in the study.

What is Involved

Study participants provide informed consent for study inclusion. Participants complete a 15-minute online core module. Eligible participants donate a saliva sample via a provided saliva collection kit and return in a pre-paid envelope. Participants can complete other short modules on other experiences, incl. mood, treatment and personality.
