
Across NSW, health services are increasingly involving people with a lived experience of an eating disorder and/or of caring for a loved one with an eating disorder in Service planning and improvement. This aims to ensure the skills, voices, experiences and contributions of those with a lived experience are effectively implemented, including Resources have been developed to support LHD Coordinators in meaningfully engaging these individuals.
Background: Across NSW services and teams are beginning to involve people with a lived experience of an eating disorder and/or of caring for a loved one with an eating disorder in planning, development and review of services and strategies. As this develops across districts, clinicians and services want to ensure they utilise the skills of those with a lived experience and ensure their input is valued and implemented effectively.
Aims: Development of resources for coordinators and involvement of people with a lived and living experience of eating disorders and/or disordered eating, and their loved ones
Outcomes: Ensuring the voices and experience of people living with eating disorders and their carers and loved ones are utilised to contribute to the ongoing improvement of health services in NSW.
Impact: Health services in NSW are better attuned to meet the needs of people living with eating disorders and their carers and loved ones.
