The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Westmead, currently has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with their Eating Disorder Service.

We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives. The SCHN Eating Disorder Service (EDS) is a large specialty service operating at The Children’s Hospital, Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The EDS provides treatment for young people with anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders from across New South Wales. Inpatient re-feeding admissions, outpatient treatment, intensive day treatment, family admission program, parent groups and an extensive family therapy program are offered. The EDS also has a well-established clinical research program and regularly provides training, education and supervision to other services. The EDS is jointly managed and staffed by the Department of Mental Health and Department of Adolescent Medicine. This position will provide services at the Eating Disorder Intensive Program for Adolescents at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The Eating Disorder Service programs focus on recovering healthy weight, improving eating behaviours, enhancing the family and young person’s capacity to manage the eating disorder and reducing the psychosocial consequences of the illness. The programs include a significant education component, as well as group work and a high level of family participation. The RN will provide clinical care, consultation and education to children and families within the Eating Disorder speciality. The RN will be also responsible for working closely with adolescents with eating disorders and their families, including therapeutic meal support, therapeutic groups for young people, and conduct weight and physical observations to support medical management and clinical care. What you'll be doing The Registered Nurse provides safe, compassionate, person-centred care to patients and families of Sydney Children's Hospital Network. The Registered Nurse acts as a role model by demonstrating behaviour and interacting with patients, their families and employees in a way that promotes a culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
