New South Wales Public Services

This section lists local public community and mental health services which provide assessment and evidence-based treatment to people with eating disorders. They may include Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) or other public health services. For more details about the nearest and most appropriate service, use the contact information provided below.

Please note: There are lots of private providers in local communities who also provide treatment for people with eating disorders often rebated under Medicare. You can search for these community services under our Private Providers section.

Community Treatment

CCLHD Eating Disorders Outpatient Service

A specialist multidisciplinary team is available, Monday to Friday, to provide outpatient treatment for people of all ages with an eating disorder, who are residents of the Central Coast.

The service provides, early identification, assessment, referral and treatment of people with eating disorder symptoms and behaviours.

The service implements evidence-based treatment approaches with respect to the  individual and their family as well as providing Eating Disorder consultation for other treating therapists.

 

Referral is through your General Practitioner (GP).

The GP will initially medically assess you  and medically monitor you throughout treatment.

Inpatient Treatment

If there is immediate concern about a person’s medical and/or psychiatric safety, present to your nearest EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. People who need medical stabilisation should be admitted to acute hospital medical inpatient treatment. Admission for inpatient treatment may be arranged if appropriate via the emergency department.
