Australian Capital Territory Public Services

This section lists local public community and mental health services which provide assessment and evidence-based treatment to people with eating disorders. They may include Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) or other public health services. For more details about the nearest and most appropriate service, use the contact information provided below.

Please note: There are lots of private providers in local communities who also provide treatment for people with eating disorders often rebated under Medicare. You can search for these community services under our Private Providers section.

Community Treatment

To access information about local community-based services for adults, children or adolescents within your area, call:

  • Adult Community Mental Health:  Access Mental Health on 1800 629 354 or (02) 6205 1065.
  • The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS):  CAMHS North Reception (02) 5124 1407 or CAMHS South Reception (02) 5124 3133.

Inpatient Treatment

If there is concern about a person’s medical and/or psychiatric safety, present to your nearest EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. People who need medical stabilisation should be admitted to acute hospital medical inpatient treatment. Admission for inpatient treatment may be arranged if appropriate via the emergency department.
