I practise from an eating disorder–informed, Health at Every Size® (HAES®)-aligned framework. My work is grounded in the understanding that eating disorders are complex mental health conditions influenced by biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors, rather than issues of weight, willpower, or lifestyle choice.
As a HAES-informed practitioner, I adopt a weight-neutral approach that prioritises psychological wellbeing, medical safety, and behavioural stability over weight-focused outcomes. This includes supporting clients to develop regular and adequate eating patterns, reduce compensatory behaviours, and build a more flexible and sustainable relationship with food and movement.
I deliver evidence-based treatment using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) as a primary framework. CBT-E targets the core maintaining mechanisms of eating disorders, including overvaluation of weight and shape, dietary restraint, binge eating, perfectionism, low self-worth, and mood intolerance. In addition, I integrate schema-informed approaches to address longstanding core beliefs, unmet emotional needs, and entrenched patterns that may underpin chronic or complex presentations.
My approach recognises the impact of weight stigma, diet culture, and body-based discrimination on mental health. I aim to create a respectful and non-judgemental space where clients of all body sizes feel safe to engage in evidence-based treatment focused on recovery, autonomy, and long-term wellbeing.
