Hi! I'm Joy - a clinical psychologist and ANZAED-endorsed eating disorder clinician. With over a decade of experience within the mental health field, I have worked across a wide range of settings, including private practice, not for profit organisations, inpatient and outpatient settings and community mental health.
My path led me to focus on eating disorders, disordered eating and body image concerns because I understand firsthand how all-encompassing these struggles can be. When so much mental energy is consumed by rigid rules and inner conflict, it is easy to feel as though you are being pulled further away from the person you want to be, and the life you truly want to live.
I am trained in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies (e.g. CBT-E, ACT, Schema, DBT, CBT-AR), and tailor my approach to meet the individual needs, preferences, and stage of change of each person I work with.
At the heart of it all, I value the importance of creating a safe, respectful and non-judgemental therapeutic environment where each person feels genuinely understood and supported. This includes creating a space that is affirming of all genders, sexualities, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and neurotypes.
