The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team treats young people and their families with eating disorders using primarily a Family Based Treatment therapy up to age 18 (or when Year 12 is finished). Additional therapies may be utilised if suitable including supportive counselling, interpersonal psychotherapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and enhanced cognitive behavioural therapy. Clinicians can see families together or young people and their careers separately. We work in a co-ordinated team with the Eating Disorder Service at the Royal Honart Hospital where young people are regularly seen by a specialist paediatric eating disorder nurse, specialist paediatrician and consultant psychiatrist with significant expertise in eating disorders.
