Melissa Smart is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with extensive experience in public sectors and a range of settings, working with children/parents, adolescents and adults, for over 20 years. Her speciality is in mental health, and understands, and can intervene when eating effects, and is effected by mental health issues. Melissa has a focus on disordered eating including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, binge eating and extremely fussy eating or Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). Melissa engages well with young people, and can assist in a practical fashion, whilst understanding how psychological issues may be playing out. She has presented at national workshops and delivered training for professionals in the field (eg ANZAED conferences) and uses evidenced based practices including Family Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for ARFID . Melissa has worked as a Senior Dietitian at PCH for 14 years, and continues in this role currently.
