Katherine is committed to providing excellence in service and believes that rural communities should demand nothing less.
Since she began working in the human service sector in 1999 Katherine has worked with individuals, families and groups to facilitate a positive difference when they have experienced a bump in the road of life. She has provided services to children, youth and adults who have struggled with situational stress, mental illness, drug or alcohol issues, disordered eating and relationship difficulties.
Katherine has developed an integrative approach to counselling which is based on a family systems framework. This means that her work is influenced by theory that individuals are inseparable from their network of relationships, that we cannot be understood in isolation from our family unit.
Katherine’s toolbox includes the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, trauma informed practice, genograms, motivational interviewing, the Gottman Method of couples counselling and the Circle of Security model of attachment parenting.
