About

Many Eating Disorders are symptoms of Complex Trauma in childhood. Treating the symptom alone, often proves ineffective. I specialise in treating childhood trauma, particularly childhood sexual abuse and other causes of chronic childhood unhappiness, confusion and fear. When life is traumatic, many children begin to use food or body weight as a desperate attempt to find something in their life they can control or as a way of controlling overwhelming emotions and memories. Restriction, binging or purging can all become ways of coping with unbearable thoughts and feelings. This is often retained into adulthood. There is effective psychological treatment to free you from the grip of Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders.
