Dr Sarah Barakat

Dr Sarah Barakat (B.Psych (Hons I), M.ClinPsych, PhD) is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Acting Research Stream Lead. She recently completed her PhD at the University of Sydney conducting her research with InsideOut Institute in which she coordinated a multisite, randomised controlled trial which aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an online self-help treatment program titled Binge Eating eTherapy (BEeT). She is also a Psychologist experienced in the delivery of individual and group psychological treatment across outpatient, community, and private settings. Sarah has a particular interest in increasing accessibility to treatment for individuals with eating disorders, in particular through the use of digital interventions. Sarah aims to investigate ways in which online therapies can mimic key outcomes of a strong therapeutic alliance through the use of personalised and engaging digital features.
