Melissa Pehlivan

Melissa is a Research Officer and University of Sydney PhD Candidate (Medicine & Health), researching the impacts of dieting in young people in the community. Melissa holds a Masters of Research in Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons-I) from Macquarie University. Her honours thesis on a body image intervention for breast cancer survivors won the Australian Psychological Society's Award for Excellent Thesis in Health Psychology for 2021. She has special research interests in body image, young people, anorexia nervosa and other restrictive eating disorders. Melissa aims to identify early indicators of eating disorder risk in young people, to help inform widescale early intervention and prevention policy and programs.
