Dr Sumedha Verma

Dr Sumedha Verma is a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral research fellow. As part of her PhD, she spearheaded a clinical trial of interventions to reduce insomnia and sleep disturbances in first-time parents. She then undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Monash University in which she engaged with people with lived experience to collaboratively design a trial targeting sleep and mood in people living with dementia and their caregivers.

In her current role at the InsideOut Institute, Sumedha is developing a research strategy for Eating Disorders Victoria, a not-for-profit community eating disorder service, to enhance the design, evaluation and translation of available support programs. She is particularly interested in the integration of lived experience voices in research and working with systems to make change.

As a clinical psychologist, Sumedha works with families and individuals, practicing from an attachment-based, culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed perspective. Outside of healthcare, Sumedha holds extensive experience as an educator.
