Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service is a tertiary specialist service that provides inpatient and outpatient services across New South Wales (NSW). It also supports clinicians and other providers who are caring for people with Eating Disorders.
rpavirtual Eating Disorders Connect (vE-Connect) is the initial point of contact for support and will facilitate referral to the Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Services.
Eligibility criteria for Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service:
There are three arms of the Peter Beumont Eating Disorder Service: inpatients, intensive outpatient program (IOP) and outreach services.
Inpatient treatment
The Peter Beumont Unit is a nine bed inpatient facility providing specialist treatment for people with an Eating Disorder. Admission is based on clear goals that are beyond local service provision. A clear plan to transition back to local services must also be in place.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) are group- based interventions that compliment treatment the person is receiving locally. The person should stay linked in with their local treatment providers during and after their engagement with this program.
Outreach
NSW Eating Disorders Outreach Service provides clinical case consultations to support clinicians and other providers who support inpatient and/or outpatient care to people with complex Eating Disorder presentations. Support includes team to team case consultations, discipline specific consultation and training.
