Research suggests that some people may experience an obsession with healthy eating, which has been referred to as Orthorexia Nervosa (ON). However, it is not clear whether such a condition exists and, if so, whether it is different from other conditions such as one of the recognised eating disorders (EDs). In order to determine whether this is the case, more research needs to be conducted to investigate whether ON differs from other eating disorders in a meaningful way.
This study, by collecting self-report questionnaire data and administering two Choice Based Conjoint analysis tasks, will allow for comparisons to be made between ON and EDs. The study will also allow for comparisons to be made between ON and other forms of normative healthy eating to determine whether ON represents a pathological variant of healthy eating.
This study is an online survey which is estimated to take no more than 60 minutes.
The survey will consist of seven questionnaires that will include items assessing eating, shape and weight concerns, your mood, and any difficulties you may be experiencing in functioning in your everyday life, as well as two Choice Based Conjoint Analysis task.
