The Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) launched a Credentialing scheme for Australian eating disorder clinicians in 2022. The Credential formally recognises clinicians with the qualifications, knowledge, training, and professional development profile to meet the minimum standards for the delivery of safe and effective eating disorder treatment, and allows people experiencing eating disorders to locate a clinician who meets these standards (via clinician profiles found at the Connect∙ed website). Integral to the Credential are the recognition of practitioners' training and expertise, as well as the commitment to eating disorder specific supervision and an annually reviewed Continuing Professional Development program. This study aims to empirically evaluate the impact Credential has on the accessibility, quality, and standardisation of eating disorder specific healthcare. Moreover, the lived experience perspectives of Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinicians, their clients and carers, will provide a comprehensive account of the facilitators and potential barriers to accessing professional supervision and eating disorder treatment.
To be eligible for participation in this study, you will be either:
A person with eating disorder lived experience, aged 18 or above, who lives in Australia; or
A carer of a loved one with an eating disorder, aged 18 or above, who lives in Australia.
Participation in this study includes an online survey (15-25 minutes) and an optional Zoom interview for select participants (40-50 minutes). Participants will separately be reimbursed for completing the survey and for taking part in the Zoom interview.
