Suite of innovative resources launched by Everymind and InsideOut to support people living with an eating disorder & their families

23 May, 2018

InsideOut Institute, together with Everymind, has this week launched a raft of free podcasts and videos designed to help people with eating disorders and their loved ones and carers.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the new resources are part of a campaign in the NSW Hunter New England to increase awareness about eating disorders, getting help, and the importance of early intervention.

The new suite of videos and podcasts developed by Everymind feature health professionals, people with a lived experience, and carers who deliver helpful tips and advice, like accessing support and the types of treatments available. They also provide further support to carers by improving their understanding of eating disorders, their ability to communicate safely and effectively with their loved one, and their willingness to apply self-help and self-care strategies. Production of these resources has been funded by the nib foundation.

InsideOut Director Dr Sarah Maguire has welcomed the promotional campaign.

“The videos and podcasts put a real human face to the eating disorder experience, and importantly the experience of navigating your way, or the way of your loved one, to adequate evidence based treatment. We commend Everymind and nib on developing these resources and making them available to those who need them.”

The new resources are an accompaniment to the earlier released online booklets, Navigating Your Way to Health and Navigating Their Way to Health. These two booklets are an easily accessible evidence-based resource created to support the NSW Service Plan for Eating Disorders, and help people with an eating disorder, and their carers and loved ones, on the journey to recovery.
