InsideOut Institute represents at WONCA 2023

6 Dec, 2023

InsideOut Institute were well represented at the WONCA 2023 conference, a large international conference for GPs hosted by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

InsideOut’s Sally Corry and Primary Care Advisor, Dr Karen Spielman presented their interactive skill building session: Eating Disorders in General Practice: A 360 degree look at the barriers to intervention and how to bust them down to a packed room of delegates. The aim of the session was to provide understanding of a GPs role in the intervention and recovery journey of people living with eating disorders to enable greater confidence and willingness to intervene and change the projected outcomes for this fast-growing illness population into the future. The session generated a lot of interest in the soon-to-be release InsideOut GP Hub and Clinical Support Tool with many delegates coming to the InsideOut exhibition booth to test the hub and sign up for alerts.

InsideOut Institute Researcher and PhD candidate, Emma Bryant’s popular talk: Identifying eating disorders in primary care: development and validation of a co-designed screening tool for ultra-high risk and early-stage illness, focused on the potential of InsideOut’s co-designed screening tool to increase the likelihood that eating disorders will be identified or managed in primary care, with the aim of improving the prognosis for people with an eating disorder through early intervention.

Dr Karen Spielman’s rapid impact informative session: Making Sense of Eating Disorders in Primary Care discussed how the management of eating disorders should be core business for GPs – not unlike the management of conditions like diabetes, depression, and hypertension with a focus on innovative digital resources and best practice care.

GPs are invited to register for early access to the GP Hub which will launch in 2024.
