InsideOut Institue for Eating Disorders has welcomed funding for its award winning eClinic and a new Digital GP Hub. 

 

The two grants totaling $8 million are part of $70 million in new federal government grants for innovative programs to research and treat mental ill-health and eating disorders, improve services, educate health professionals and support patients, their families and carers. 

 

InsideOut's National Programs manager Peta Marks told The Wire on 2SER Radio the funding will help improve access to specialised services.  

"We can do a lot to improve the outcomes of people with eating disorders if we have access to good treatments, we have research about treatments that work and a system of care that is identifying and providing young people and adults with eating disorders with the support that they need to recover. This funding will go some way to making those things happen," said Peta Marks. 

 

InsideOut Institute’s e-clinic is an online, evidence-based platform for people with eating disorder symptoms. The Digital GP Hub will provide doctors with targeted information at the right time to better identify those at risk of an eating disorder and provide evidence-based treatment. 

 

"We need to increase access to specialised eating disorders treatment services nationally so that people in rural, regional and remote areas have as good access to treatment as people in metropolitan areas," said Peta Marks.
