With approximately 1 million Australians living with an eating disorder, the Australian Government Department of Health announced a $13 million four-year grant for the establishment of the Australian Eating Disorder Research and Translation Centre led by the InsideOut Institute at the University of Sydney along with 10 national partners.

InsideOut Director Associate Professor Sarah Maguire says that the Centre will have national and international think-tanks of experts from the eating disorders field and other related fields to discuss new potential avenues of treatment and research:

"We need to create new thinking about new treatment that have high impact."

Associate Professor Maguire stresses the importance of creating sustainable research and career pathways for a thriving research community, as well as having people with lived experience be an integral voice that will embed all activities across the Centre.
