Autism and Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders Families Australia is excited to be offering to carers, clinicians and the general public an online International Webinar on the link between Autism and Eating Disorders. The session will include a two hour talk with half an hour for “live” question and answer time with the audience following the presentation. The session will be recorded and emailed to all registrants following the Webinar.

It is estimated that 1 in 4 Anorexia Nervosa sufferers are believed to have Autism.

Research suggests that autistic traits may not have been recognized or diagnosed prior to eating disorder treatment. Significantly, these heightened autistic traits are associated with poorer treatment outcomes, suggesting that treatment may need to be adapted for this population.

Presented by world renowned Clinical Psychologist Professor Tony Attwood . Tony is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in autism spectrum disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975.
