About the role

The RPAH eating disorders service will be soon running a Motivational Enhancement Therapy program as part of their outpatient services. They are seeking to incorporate a talk from someone with a lived experience in order to enhance the patient’s hope of recovery and reduce their fears with the process, as per below:

  • Person with lived experience of an eating disorder who has 100% recovered
  • Available on a Thursday morning (9am-10:30am) (once the program starts we will need them at session 2, and then every 5 weeks after that – no start date as of yet)
  • The purpose is to explore the lived experience of someone who has gone through recovery, explore how they dealt with any motivation blocks, what eventually did build their motivation to change, and how they pushed through their fears of behavioural change
  • Their involvement in the group would be answering some fixed questions about their recovery and then a small open discussion with the group (could even screen the participants questions about recovery prior to the peer support worker being asked) – it would take up to 45 minutes
